Ten people were killed and five others injured in a mine collapse in Zambia. In a statement on Monday, Zambian police said that ten miners were killed and five others injured in a mine collapse in the Mumbwa district. The statement added that an unknown number of people went to do mining activities in the mine Monday morning and while they were working the earth collapsed on them. The police said that rescue efforts are still underway to save the miners who are believed to be trapped under the rubble. Last August, the Zambian authorities recovered 8 bodies from a mine following a mudslide caused by heavy rains, in an incident that occurred about 45 km east of the capital, Lusaka. In December 2023, around 30 miners were killed in the collapse of a copper mine in the north of the country. Source: Qatar News Agency
