10th Consultative Meeting of Arab Mineral Resources Ministers Begins in Riyadh

Riyadh: The 10th Consultative Meeting of Arab Ministers Responsible for Mineral Resources commenced in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, highlighting crucial discussions and initiatives in the mineral resources sector.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting, organized by the Arab Organization for Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining (AIDSMO) in collaboration with the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, is running alongside the International Mining Conference from January 13 to 15. The agenda is centered on AIDSMO's significant achievements, such as the Guideline Mining System for Arab Countries and the study on rehabilitating old mines and quarries to promote sustainable development.

In his opening address, AIDSMO's Director General, Adel Saqr Al Saqr, emphasized the importance of the meeting as a platform for advancing technical initiatives to optimize the benefits from Arab mineral resources and enhance integration within related value chains. He announced the launch of the Arab Digital Library for Mining Studies, aimed at supporting decision-makers and researchers, in line with recommendations from the previous meeting.

Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Sector at the Arab League, Mohammed Saleh Al Ajiri, highlighted the consultative meetings' role in developing the mineral resources sector and fostering cooperation among member states. He reiterated AIDSMO's dedication to implementing previous recommendations through practical activities and development programs, reinforcing the mining sector as a vital component of economic development in Arab countries.
