10th Field Disaster Management Training Camp Launches in Sealine

Sealine: Under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, and with the support of Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) launched the 10th Field Disaster Management Training Camp (DMC-10) on Tuesday. Running until February 11 under the slogan "Effective Preparedness... Better Response", the event brings together 300 trainers and trainees from QRCS, QFFD, Qatari government bodies, NGOs, and National Societies and relief organizations in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

According to Qatar News Agency, the opening ceremony in the Sealine area of Mesaieed was attended by prominent figures, including Eng. Ibrahim bin Hashim Al-Sada, Managing Director - Secretary-General of QRCS, Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Fehani, Deputy Director-General for Risk and Compliance Sector at QFFD, Major General Mohamed bin Jassim Al-Sulaiti, Director-General of Public Security, Major General Hamad Othman Al-Duhaimi, Director-General of Civil Defense, Brigadier Ali Mohamed Al-Mohannadi, Head of the National Command Center (NCC), Abdullah Hamed Al-Mulla, board member of QRCS, along with many leaders and representatives of government and social organizations in Qatar.

In his opening remarks, Mohamed Bader Al-Sada, Assistant Secretary-General for Relief and International Development at QRCS and Head of DMC-10, expressed pride in the event's wide reception, noting the participation of over 300 individuals. He highlighted the camp's success in graduating hundreds of specialized personnel who have actively engaged in humanitarian responses worldwide. Al-Sada emphasized the camp's role in promoting a culture of preparedness at all levels, asserting the importance of disaster preparedness and resource mobilization.

Al-Fehani from QFFD affirmed the organization's commitment to preparedness and effective crisis response, noting the camp's launch as a continuation of Qatar's humanitarian efforts. He recognized the ongoing partnership with QRCS as a successful model of institutional cooperation that contributes to proactive humanitarian action.

The camp's agenda includes theoretical lectures, practical training, simulation scenarios, and real-world applications of humanitarian practices. These cover a broad range of topics such as field assessment, emergency shelter, water and sanitation, food security, emergency planning, health in emergencies, media communication, fundamental humanitarian standards, and more, equipping participants with essential skills for effective field operations.

Participants from Qatar include representatives from multiple organizations like QRCS, National Service Academy (NSA), Qatar Charity, Civil Defence Council, and others. International participants come from 18 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Palestine, Somalia, and more.

DMC-10 is supported by numerous partners and contributing organizations, including several Qatari ministries, Lekhwiya, Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar Media Corporation, and international bodies such as the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
