Salamanca: At least 11 people were killed and 12 others injured in an armed attack at a football field in the Mexican city of Salamanca, local authorities said.

According to Qatar News Agency, Mayor Cesar Prieto stated in a Facebook post that a woman and a child were among those injured in what he termed a "regrettable and cowardly" attack. The tragic event unfolded in the Loma de Flores area during a social gathering.

Prieto further described the attack as indicative of a severe social breakdown, highlighting that it was part of a broader wave of violence that the state has been experiencing.
