11 Police Officers Killed in Armed Attack in Eastern Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou: Security sources reported Thursday that at least 11 police officers were killed in an attack carried out by armed groups in eastern Burkina Faso.

According to Qatar News Agency, the sources added that hundreds of militants attacked a security detachment in the Balga area of Spound Spound €š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬¹Diapangou Department in Gourma province, in the eastern part of the country. The attack resulted in the immediate deaths of seven police officers at the scene, while four others later succumbed to their injuries, bringing the final death toll to 11, all of whom were police officers.

Burkina Faso, located in the Sahel Region of Africa, has witnessed frequent attacks since 2015 by armed groups linked to al-Qaeda.
