16 Killed in Traffic Accident in Northeastern Brazil

Alagoas: At least 16 people were killed when a passenger bus overturned in northeastern Brazil, according to local officials. Brazilian authorities in the state of Alagoas announced that seven women, five men, and four children died in the incident, which is still under investigation.

According to Qatar News Agency, the accident occurred when the bus, carrying about 60 people, veered off the road and overturned in a rural area of Alagoas state. Fatal accidents are common on Brazil's roads. In August 2025, 11 people were killed and 45 others were injured when a passenger bus collided with a truck transporting cotton seeds.
