Doha: An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck the Fiji Islands in the South Pacific on Wednesday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey said in a statement that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 545 kilometers. So far, there have been no reports of human or material damage as a result of the earthquake.
The Fiji Islands are located in an area called the Ring of Fire in the Pacific Ocean, which is exposed from time to time to many aftershocks and earthquakes that may be strong.
