4 Killed as Boat Carrying Flood Victims Capsizes in Punjab

Doha: Four people drowned when a rescue boat carrying flood victims capsized in Punjab, Pakistan.

According to Qatar News Agency, security sources reported that the boat was carrying approximately 30 people, 25 of whom were rescued, including six injured. Meanwhile, a two-month-old baby is still missing, and rescue teams are continuing their search for him.

Rescue sources indicated that some of the victims were recovered with the help of local residents. They explained that the boat capsized due to overcrowding and exceeding its capacity, despite having been sent to evacuate residents affected by the floods.

Large areas of Pakistan are experiencing floods and landslides, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries, amid poor civil protection and rescue facilities.
