Medea: An earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale struck Medea Province in northwest of Algeria on Thursday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Algerian Research Center in Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Geophysics (CRAAG) reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was located nine kilometers northwest of the municipality of Al-Mahyoub in Medea.
There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far.
Algeria is occasionally hit by earthquakes, the most violent of which was the 6.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Boumerdes province in the north of the country in May 2003, killing 2,277 people and causing massive destruction in the region.
