Doha: The 47th World Parachuting Championship (CISM 2025) is set to proceed on Thursday in Doha at Um Al Shouhot Airport, with contests rolling on until Nov. 23. The tournament's morning events could not be completed due to weather conditions, which stymied pilots and skydivers from finalizing their attempts on the fourth and fifth consecutive days of the competition.
According to Qatar News Agency, following consultations with the International Military Sports Council (CISM), the organizing committee decided to resume the competitions tomorrow, provided weather conditions stabilize after this postponement. Qatar is participating with seven athletes, five of whom form a single team, and two in the junior category, among a total of 320 jumpers representing 30 countries. Competitors are contending in quad formation, style, and accuracy landing events for both men and women.
The Qatari parachuting team is regarded as one of the best globally, and it is expected to achieve extraordinary results in the championship after completing thorough preparations. Secretary-General of the Qatar Air Sports Committee (QASC), Capt. Hazza Hamad Al Attiyah, affirmed his strong confidence in the team's capabilities to deliver top results in the tournament. He noted that, despite the intense competition among the world's elite parachutists, the Qatari team is well-prepared for this prestigious global championship.
QASC places great emphasis on global tournaments and consistently aims to secure prominent positions and win titles, with highly competitive events anticipated due to the participation of the world's finest parachutists, elevating the challenge for all competitors, Al Attiyah noted.
