The pearl: The fourth edition of the Eqbes Beach Volleyball Championship is set to begin on Monday at The Pearl Island, with the event running until the 18th of the holy month of Ramadan. Twelve teams have been divided into four groups, each consisting of three teams. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals.
According to Qatar News Agency, the tournament will follow a single round-robin format during the group stage. The opening matches on Monday will feature Lekhwiya against Seashore, the Ministry of Interior facing Al Rayyan, and Al Markhiya competing against Khalifa City.
Organizers have set aside QR600,000 in prizes for attending fans, while the total prize money for the top three teams has been increased to QR200,000. Abdullah Nasser Al Yafie, the tournament director, emphasized the strong competition expected this year, citing improvements in technical standards and incentives for both teams and supporters.
The championship, which was first launched in 2023 at Aspire Zone, has since been hosted at Doha Port, as part of efforts to broaden its reach and enhance its appeal as both a sporting and entertainment event.
