Doha: The fourth edition of the Pearl Beach Volleyball Championship (EKBES) commenced on Monday, with the tournament scheduled to run until the 18th of Ramadan. This year's championship features 12 teams divided into four groups, competing for the coveted title in a thrilling showcase of volleyball skills.

According to Qatar News Agency, Tuesday will see three exciting matches as Al Jassasiya faces Vicuna, Seashore plays against Al Zubarah, and Al Rayyan meets Al Dafna. These matches promise to highlight the competitive spirit and high-level play of the participating teams in this edition of the championship.

The tournament draw, conducted by the Qatar Volleyball Association, categorized the teams into four groups. Group A includes Lekhwiya, Seashore, and Lusail; Group B features the Ministry of Interior, Al Rayyan, and Al Dafna; Group C is composed of Al Mirqab, Madinat Khalifa, and Al Ittihad; and Group D consists of Al Jassasiya, Vicuna, and Al Zubarah. The teams will compete in a single round-robin format, with the top two from each group advancing to the quarterfinals.

This tournament marks a significant moment as it is hosted by Pearl Island for the first time, reflecting the organizing committee's initiative to diversify the tournament venues and add a tourist dimension. This change aims to attract a broader audience and enhance the spectator experience. The previous editions were held at Aspire Academy and Doha Port before moving to the current venue.
