Islamabad: An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck regions in northern Pakistan on Saturday. There were no reports of injuries or casualties following the seismic event.
According to Qatar News Agency, the earthquake's depth has been reported as 114 kilometers. The National Seismic Monitoring Centre of the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Islamabad noted that this earthquake is the latest in a series of tremors to impact northern Pakistan in recent months. Many of these events have been linked to seismic activity originating from the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
Further details revealed that just yesterday, a 5.5-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Hindu Kush area. The region is known for its frequent seismic activity due to its position along the tectonic boundary between the Eurasian and Indian plates.
