5.1-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Philippines

Surigao del sur: An earthquake measuring 5.1 magnitude on the Richter scale struck on Sunday Surigao del Sur province in the Philippines.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 72 km from the Bayabas municipality in the province, at a depth of 220 km.

The Philippines is prone to volcanic and seismic activity due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire.
