An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck the Philippine capital, Manila, Friday, amid warnings to residents of the possibility of aftershocks.
The US Geological Survey said in a statement that the earthquake occurred this morning about 100 kilometers south of the capital, Manila.
There have been no reports so far of human or material losses, but local authorities have warned residents of the possibility of aftershocks.
Earthquakes occur daily in the Philippines, which is located above the Pacific "Ring of Fire," an area that witnesses intense seismic and volcanic activity.
