5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Southern Fiji in Pacific Ocean

Doha: A 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit Friday southern Fiji, located in the South Pacific. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported in a statement that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 75 kilometers, 729 kilometers southeast of the capital, Suva.

According to Qatar News Agency, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage so far. Fiji is located in the so-called "Ring of Fire" in the Pacific Ocean, which is subject to numerous earthquakes from time to time, which can be powerful at times.
