5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Hits West of Indonesia

Doha: An earthquake measuring 5.2 magnitude on the Richter scale struck on Thursday Aceh province, west of Indonesia: The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) reported that the epicenter of the quake occurred 103 km southwest of Banda Aceh city, at a depth of 10 km.

According to Qatar News Agency, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage. Indonesia is regularly exposed to earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
