5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Off Vanuatu

An earthquake measuring 5.2 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Wednesday off the coast of the Vanuatu in the South Pacific Ocean.

The quake occurred 152 km of Sola, Vanuatu, at a depth of 224.4 km, the US Geological Survey said in a statement.

No tsunami warnings were issued, and no casualties or material losses were reported.

In July, a 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck off Vanuatu, at a depth of 10 km.

Vanuatu is an archipelago of volcanic origin that lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a zone of frequent seismic activity. (QNA)
