5.3-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Indonesia

Doha: An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck Indonesia's Southeast Maluku Regency (Maluku Tenggara) on Sunday:

According to Qatar News Agency, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the quake occurred at a depth of 134 km.

Indonesia lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where many tectonic plates meet, causing frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
