Tonga: An earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Tonga on Tuesday. The seismic event was recorded 50 km east of Houma, occurring at a depth of 10 km beneath the Earth's surface. According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported the details of the earthquake. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage resulting from the tremor. Tonga, an archipelago in the South Pacific Ocean, comprises 176 islands, of which only 52 are inhabited. The region is known for its seismic activity, yet this recent incident has not resulted in any significant harm, underscoring the resilience of the islands' infrastructure and their preparedness for such natural events.
