5.6-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Pakistan

Islamabad: A 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, and the northern parts of the country on Wednesday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 114 kilometers, adding that no casualties or damage had been reported so far.

Last October, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck northern Pakistan. Earthquakes are common in Pakistan, as the country lies on the boundary between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates.

A devastating 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck in 2005, killing thousands of people in Pakistan.
