An earthquake measuring 5 magnitude on the Richter scale hit eastern Philippines on Monday. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported that the earthquake occurred 31 km Southeast of the Municipality of Balangiga in eastern Philippines. There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake. The Philippines experiences high volcanic and seismic activity due to its location on the "Ring of Fire".
