An earthquake measuring 5 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Monday the Kermadec Islands off the coast of New Zealand. The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 36.3 km, while no tsunami warnings were issued. There have been no reports of human losses or material damage as a result of the earthquake so far. The Kermadec Islands are located about 1,000 km northeast of the North Island of New Zealand and are frequently subjected to strong earthquakes. Source: Qatar News Agency
