Doha: With only 50 days remaining, Lusail International Circuit (LIC) has affirmed its complete readiness to host fans and drivers for the eagerly awaited 2025 Qatar Airways Formula 1 Grand Prix, scheduled from Nov. 28 to 30, a race widely regarded as one of the most high-stakes and anticipated events of the Formula 1 calendar.
According to Qatar News Agency, the announcement came during a press briefing at LIC premises, where Ali Al Dosari, Chief Operating Officer, and Director of Public Relations and Communications, Hamad Al Khalaqi, presented the final preparations for the Grand Prix. They detailed a comprehensive range of programs and activities unfolding both within the circuit and across Doha, aimed at fostering the fan experience, promoting sustainability initiatives, engaging the community through educational and outreach programs, and staging events as part of the countdown to the Grand Prix.
This year's event promises an indelible experience both on and off the track. Beyond the main race, the three-day extravaganza will feature the high-speed Sprint Race, the Formula 2 Championship, and the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East, ensuring continuous adrenaline-fueled action throughout the event.
Off the circuit, the experience is no less electrifying, with a star-studded music lineup including a live performance by global sensation Seal on Friday evening, followed by a spectacular show by the legendary rock band Metallica on Sunday, creating a seamless fusion of motorsport and world-class entertainment. The Fan Zone this year has been completely reimagined, delivering a dynamic, interactive, and culturally immersive experience.
Visitors will enjoy an expanded family area packed with activities for all ages, alongside a diverse and gourmet selection of food and beverages, catering to the most discerning tastes. At the heart of the Fan Zone lies the Qatari Cultural Hub, a vibrant, pulsating showcase of national heritage and traditions. Here, attendees can immerse themselves in authentic Qatari experiences, from folk performances and traditional coffee and dates, to live demonstrations of handicrafts such as sadu weaving, pottery, Arabic calligraphy, and henna artistry, offering the world a glimpse of Qatar's rich culture and renowned hospitality.
Debuting in the Middle East, LEGO 'Build The Thrill' joins the 2025 Qatar Airways Formula 1 Grand Prix at LIC, bringing its globally acclaimed 'Build The Thrill' experience to this major event, part of its world tour spanning 14 Formula 1 races. The activation promises a fully immersive, multi-sensory experience, featuring a LEGO-themed pit lane and garage, where visitors can construct miniature F1 cars, enjoy interactive audio-visual simulations, and take-home exclusive commemorative models packaged specially for the Qatar GP.
The Fan Zone has been reimagined on a grand scale, offering fans unprecedented access to the world of Formula 1. Attendees will engage in the F1 Simulator Challenge, Pit Stop Challenge, Driver Selfie Station, and celebrate victories at the DJ Podium. Additional attractions include 4D cinematic experiences, the Blast Lane wind tunnel, and virtual pit tours, ensuring continuous adrenaline-fueled engagement. Scientific and environmental activations also spotlight STEM and sustainability, with the F1 Genius Dome allowing fans to explore aerodynamics, race strategy, and engineering innovation.
The Green Zone combines fitness and fun through energy-generating stationary bike challenges, while the Second Life Exhibition displays artworks crafted entirely from recycled materials, reflecting the event's commitment to creative sustainability. In alignment with its inclusive vision, LIC introduces a Sensory Assistance Room, developed in collaboration with Qatar Foundation, providing a calm, supportive environment for visitors with sensory processing challenges.
The circuit also unveils a bilingual digital map and smart navigation platform, guiding attendees in real-time from home to parking, merchandise outlets, facilities, activities, concerts, and designated zones, while enabling pre-visit planning for a seamless experience. Sustainability remains central, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, featuring recycled wood recycling stations, expanded solar-powered lighting, an expanded electric vehicle fleet, and incentives for public transport use. Food redistribution programs further reinforce the LIC's commitment to reducing waste and promoting environmental responsibility.
The community and youth engagement initiatives are equally robust. The Qatar GP Educational Tour connects students nationwide to motorsport through virtual pit maintenance challenges and digital track simulations. The volunteer program returns, mobilizing hundreds of local volunteers in critical operational roles, complemented by a partnership with Doha University of Science and Technology, offering students field-based internships in major sports event management.
As the countdown accelerates, LIC has launched citywide activations, including the Qatar GP 2025 Village at Place Vendome Mall, showcasing F1 simulators, 3D displays, and interactive challenges. Ten giant F1 helmet sculptures will be displayed across iconic Doha landmarks, including Old Doha Port and Msheireb, transforming the city into a celebration of global motorsport culture fused with local heritage.
This year's Prix promises an unparalleled fusion of high-octane racing, immersive fan engagement, sustainability, and cultural showcase, setting a new benchmark for Formula 1 experiences in the Middle East. This event has become a key platform that embodies the State of Qatar's uniqueness in innovation and hospitality, as LIC this year is proud to showcase an integrated experience that goes beyond the race to encompass education, culture, technology, as well as societal initiatives and sustainability, said LIC CEO Abdulaziz Ali Al Mohannadi in press remarks.
This experience, he adds, is the epitome of the best services Qatar provides, promoting LIC's stature as a leading hub for motorsport on the global stage. He averred that, with the countdown to the kickoff of this event, LIC underscores its readiness to receive fans once again and make the race weekend an exceptional occasion that captures the thrill of Formula 1 and the passion of motorsport fans worldwide.
