Guatemala City: 51 people were killed in a road accident in Guatemala. The Guatemala City Fire Department reported that a passenger bus veered off a highway it was traveling on and fell into a ravine in the city on Monday, killing at least 51 people, noting that there are still survivors trapped.

According to Qatar News Agency, the bodies of 36 men and 15 women were recovered and sent to a morgue in the city, while 10 seriously injured were transferred to the hospital.

Guatemalan President Bernardo Arevalo declared three days of mourning and deployed the army and disaster management authorities to assist in rescue efforts.
