63 Palestinian Prisoners Martyred Since Start of Aggression Against Gaza Strip

Gaza: The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs (CDA) announced that at least 63 detainees have been killed in the Israeli occupation's prisons since the onset of the aggression against the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023, among whom were 40 women from Gaza, with the Israeli occupation forces concealing the identities of dozens of martyrs and detaining their bodies.

According to Qatar News Agency, Palestinian figures confirm that the number of Palestinian detainees martyred in Israeli occupation prisons since 1967 has reached nearly 300, the latest of whom was the child Walid Khaled Abdullah Ahmad, from the town of Silwad.

In a joint statement to mark Palestinian Prisoners' Day, the CDA and Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association emphasized that all kinds of atrocities such as torture, starvation, medical crimes, and physical assault constituted the fundamental causes that led to the martyrdom of prisoners and detainees at a rate higher than during any previous period, based on their monitoring and historic documentation.

Testimonies gleaned by legal personnel from Israeli prisons, along with those documented from released prisoners, revealed shocking and horrendous levels of systematic methods of torture, alongside methods of humiliation and degradation of human dignity, where detainees are subjected to repeated and severe beatings, as well as deprivation of the most basic standards stipulated in international instruments and conventions governing the treatment of detainees.

The statement reported that, heretofore, the arrest toll reached 16,400 cases, including over 510 women and nearly 1,300 children, while underscoring that this tally does not encompass the thousands of detainees from the Gaza Strip.
