Doha: The 6th International Primary Health Care Conference (IPHCC) - Qatar 2025 emphasized the urgency of enhancing research skills among clinical physicians and decision-makers. The conference aimed at equipping the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) with necessary resources to bolster planning, health, and prevention policies. It also focused on revising health legislation in Qatar to establish a comprehensive professional ethics law, collaborating with relevant institutions and learning from regional experiences.
According to Qatar News Agency, in its closing session, the conference highlighted the importance of establishing comprehensive support systems for lifestyle management, obesity, and self-care through structured digital programs. It recognized obesity as a chronic disease needing psychological and social attention.
The conference advocated for developing a multidisciplinary workforce via partnerships between academic institutions and the healthcare sector, aligning with the Qatar National Vision 2030 goals. It also stressed promoting employee well-being, mental health, and creating a safe work environment to prevent burnout, alongside enhancing adolescent mental health through early detection and a clear referral system within a national policy framework.
In the recommendations read by Dr. Mariam Ali Abdul Malik, Managing Director of PHCC and Chair of IPHCC, the conference called for national policies to regulate complementary medicine and incorporate it into the healthcare system safely. It urged the expansion of digital health services by supporting health information-exchange systems, patient applications, and accelerating services. The integration of artificial intelligence in electronic medical records, while ensuring privacy and clinical accountability, was also stressed. Additionally, it emphasized standardizing procedures and strengthening medication safety across the healthcare system.
