A strong earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale struck northern Chile near its border with Argentina, with no reports of injuries or damage so far. The US Geological Survey stated in its report that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 117 kilometers, while its epicenter was at a depth of 45 kilometers southeast of San Pedro de Atacama in Chile. There was no tsunami warning issued as a result of the earthquake. Chile, located along the Pacific Ocean, experienced a devastating earthquake on Feb. 27, 2010, measuring 8.8 on the Richter scale, which triggered a tsunami.
