Marrakech: The 7th edition of the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, an international platform bringing together artists, galleries, and institutions from across the African continent, opened Thursday in Marrakech, Morocco. The fair runs until Feb. 8, with the participation of more than 20 exhibitors from 12 countries.
According to Qatar News Agency, the program features several solo and group exhibitions of paintings, photography, sculpture, and visual arts throughout Marrakech, as well as intellectual seminars and panel discussions on contemporary art and its contributions to identity, memory, and social interaction.
The 1-54 Fair, founded in 2013, aims to connect leading international institutions and galleries specializing in contemporary African art. It offers meetings with artists, roundtables, and special project programs. The fair is held annually in three cities: London, New York, and Marrakech, with the number 54 symbolizing the countries that make up the African continent.
