Doha: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed in a phone call Monday with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, the recent talks between Tehran and Washington on the Iranian nuclear issue, which were held in the Omani capital.
According to Qatar News Agency, sources at the Turkish Foreign Ministry reported that the two sides discussed the recent talks held between Iranian and American officials in Muscat on the Iranian nuclear issue.
The first round of indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran on Tehran's nuclear issue was held last Saturday in Muscat, mediated by the Sultanate of Oman. The discussions signify a step towards addressing longstanding concerns over Iran's nuclear activities and the potential for future agreements.
The two sides agreed to a second round next week. The Iranian delegation was headed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the US side was headed by Steve Witkoff, the president's envoy. The continuation of these talks indicates a commitment from both parties to seek a resolution to the nuclear issue through diplomatic means.
