Doha: Two Qatari men's beach volleyball teams will face one another in the semi-finals of the second West Asia Beach Volleyball Tour, currently taking place in Jordan.
According to Qatar News Agency, the two teams consist of the duo Mehdi Samoud and Mohamed Ehab vs duo Mahmoud Essam and Saif Al Majid, with this showdown guaranteeing a spot for one Qatari team in the final.
The first Qatari team, consisting of duo Mahmoud Essam and Saif Al Majid, advanced after defeating the Saudi duo of Deyaa Khawahr and Hassan Al Kaabi with a score of 2 '0 (21 '12, 21 '18).
Essam and Al Majid had topped their group in the preliminary round by securing two consecutive wins: a 2 '0 victory over the Kuwaiti duo Jassim Al Sabbagh and Abdulwahab, and a 2 '1 win over the Lebanese pair Paul Bou Akl and Charbel Khoury (21 '16, 18 '21, 15 '10).
In the quarter-finals, the Qatari team continued their strong performance, securing a well-deserved 2 '0 win (21 '12, 21 '18) over the same Saudi pair to reach the semi-finals.
The second Qatari team, made up of Mehdi Samoud and Mohamed Ehab, began the tournament by defeating the Kuwaiti pair Nawaf Al Rashidi and Ibrahim Ahmed 2 '0, then narrowly lost to the Saudi duo Deyaa Khawahr and Hassan Al Kaabi 1 '2. Despite the loss, they advanced to the quarter-finals, where they secured a valuable 2 '0 win (21 '15, 21 '19) over the Lebanese team of Paul Bou Akl and Charbel Khoury, clinching their own spot in the semi-finals.
