Doha: The first round of the Qatar Freestyle Drifting Championship concluded at the skid-pad of the Qatar Racing Club (QRC). The two-day contests were held in the Industrial Area amid intense competition and a large, enthusiastic crowd, with the three-hour final competitions of the round seeing racer Abdullah Al Qahtani clinch first place title with 44 points, edging out his closest competitor, Saud Al Merri, who secured second place by a margin of only three points.
According to Qatar News Agency, racer Ahmed Al Misnad snagged third place, surpassing Ahmed Al Banna by a single point, who settled for fourth, while fifth place went to racer Rashid Al Banna. HE Director-General of Qatar Racing Club, Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid Al-Thani, crowned the winners of the first three places, culminating the conclusion of the first four-round events, with the second round scheduled to kick off on Dec. 26, 2025.
On the first day of the competition, registration and technical inspections were conducted to ensure all vehicles and drivers met the championship's safety and technical standards, including proper roll cages, secure batteries, functional seat belts, and mandatory protective gear for the drivers. Prior to the launch of the competitions, a briefing was held for competitors with the race stewards, during which critical technical and technological matters were outlined.
According to the competition rules, each driver is granted one run on the track to perform specific maneuvers, drift, reverse, knot, and Rios, within a total time of four minutes. Drivers earn more points for completing the maneuvers in less time, and additional scoring is awarded for overall style and the execution of each maneuver.
