Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Head of the Refugee Affairs Department, Dr. Ahmed Abu Houli, met with the Chairman of the Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee, Dr. Basil Al-Hassan, and presented the fierce attack facing UNRWA, including legal, political and financial targeting. The difficult conditions experienced by Palestinian refugees in host countries. They agreed on the importance of the agency's work in host countries, rejecting any alternative to it without a comprehensive political solution, and implementing International Resolution 194, which stipulates the right of return and compensation. They discussed the importance of working to continue providing financial support to the International Agency in this difficult time, and expanding its sources, especially with the entry of countries such as: Algeria, Iraq, China and other countries. Lebanon's role was emphasized during its presidency of the Advisory Committee over the past two years. This is n oting that the UNRWA budget in 2023 was 1.400 billion US dollars, which is considered the highest budget compared to previous budgets. The two parties agreed to prepare a joint study of the report of the head of the group charged with conducting an independent review of the work of UNRWA, Ms. Catherine Colonna. In preparation for presentation at the Advisory Committee meetings at the end of this June. Dr. Abu Houli presented Dr. Al-Hassan in the form of the final statement of the conference of supervisors of refugee affairs, and the importance of taking practical steps in order to protect the agency and facilitate the lives of refugees.
