Advisor to Prime Minister Highlights Qatar’s Role in Crisis Mediation at Munich Security Conference

Munich: Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majid bin Mohammed Al Ansari participated in a panel discussion titled "Regional Challenges and the Role of Qatari Mediation in Conflict Resolution." The session was organized by the Arab Cultural House "The Diwan" on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Al Ansari emphasized that Qatar continues to play an active role in international mediation, driven by its commitment to promoting international peace and security. He highlighted that mediation is an integral part of Qatar's foreign policy, showcasing the country's efforts in various regional and international conflicts, in collaboration with regional and international partners. Dr. Al Ansari reiterated Qatar's stance against military escalation in the region, advocating for political solutions instead. He emphasized that dialogue is the only viable path to resolving conflicts, despite the pressures and cha llenges that often come with mediation. He further explained that increasing global political polarization and a decline in the culture of dialogue pose significant challenges to peace efforts. He stressed the importance of maintaining open communication channels among all parties, including non-state actors, as a crucial component of successful negotiations. In his concluding remarks, Dr. Al Ansari noted that the region is at a critical juncture, with countries facing a collective choice to prioritize peace over escalation. He urged the international community to protect and support mediation initiatives rather than undermine them.
