Doha: Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, reaffirmed Qatar's position on the Syrian crisis, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive political solution. He urged all parties to engage in dialogue to resolve the crisis in alignment with international legitimacy resolutions, including UN Security Council Resolution 2254. This stance aims to fulfill the aspirations of the Syrian people while preserving Syria's unity, sovereignty, and independence. According to Qatar News Agency, during the weekly press briefing by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al Ansari stated that Qatar is closely monitoring developments in Syria and stressed the importance of protecting civilians from the conflict's consequences. He expressed concern over civilian casualties from military escalations and called for immediate de-escalation and the delivery of humanitarian aid. Dr. Al Ansari reiterated that a military solution is unsustainable and tha t a political resolution is essential to end the Syrian people's suffering. He highlighted Qatar's collaboration with international partners to achieve a political solution that aligns with the Syrian people's aspirations. He also expressed Qatar's support for initiatives aimed at establishing lasting peace in Syria. Regarding Qatar's mediation efforts in Gaza, Dr. Al Ansari noted the suspension of Qatar's mediation efforts in negotiations to end the war there. However, he emphasized Qatar's support for peace efforts in the region and ongoing communications with all parties to assess shifts in their positions. He also mentioned Qatar's regional and international discussions on de-escalation in the region, humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza, and efforts to reduce tensions in Lebanon. Qatar is actively mediating in the Russia-Ukraine crisis, aiming to reunite children with families and explore all possible avenues to enhance its mediator role, including discussions on prisoner exchanges. Dr. Al Ansari also aff irmed Qatar's support for Lebanon amid its challenges and highlighted the need for international efforts to reconstruct affected areas in the region. Dr. Al Ansari called on the international community to focus on Sudan, where emerging conflicts worldwide might have diverted attention. He referenced the Gulf Cooperation Council's session underscoring Sudan's sovereignty and stability. He affirmed Qatar's readiness to support peaceful resolution efforts in Sudan, requiring further mediator support. In meetings with regional and international partners, Dr. Al Ansari mentioned the visit of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani to Egypt, where he met Egyptian leaders to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments. He also referred to a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan about bilateral cooperation and regional issues. Dr. Al Ansari highlighted the Prime Minister's visit to Hungary, where discussions focused on enhancing Qatar-Europe relations. The Hungarian President awarded the Order of Merit to HE Sheikh Mohammed in recognition of Qatar's efforts in peaceful conflict resolution. At the Cairo Ministerial Conference to Enhance Humanitarian Response in Gaza, Qatar's commitment to supporting humanitarian aid delivery and advocating for a ceasefire was reaffirmed. Discussions focused on regional developments, particularly in Gaza and Lebanon. Dr. Al Ansari also noted Qatar's participation in the G7 and Arab partners meeting in Italy, emphasizing the Middle East's stability as a global necessity. Qatar's approach to regional stability involves mediation, human development investment, and sustainable economic cooperation. Qatar's firm support for the Palestinian cause was reiterated, emphasizing the Palestinian people's right to self-determination. Qatar welcomed the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon and expressed hope for similar agreements in Gaza. Qatar's humanitarian aid to Lebanon continues, with the latest delivery of 32 t ons of aid through airlift operations, bringing the total aid delivered to 437 tons.
