Doha: The 12th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AgriteQ 2025) launched Wednesday the Camel Forum, focusing on the camels' role in sustainable food security. The two-day forum, on the second day of the event, brought together experts from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Sudan, Iran, and Australia, along with Sudan's Hashab Organization for Rural Development. The agenda covered several items including genetic characterization, modern reproductive techniques, camel food and therapeutic products, and modern breeding methods.
According to Qatar News Agency, participants took stock of international experiences that can be used to enhance food security and achieve sustainable development. Inaugurating the forum, the Ministry of Municipality's Director of Agricultural Research Department Hamad Saket Al Shammari underscored the great role of camels in combatting food challenges, highlighting Qatar's special attention to camels as animals of the future. He hailed the forum as a qualitative shift in camel studies, streamlining scientific research in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, and cooperation among livestock experts.
Meanwhile, Head of Animal Research Section at the Ministry of Municipality's Agricultural Research Department Huda Al Dosari commended the camels' genetic characteristics that foster food security, particularly amid climate change and high production costs. She added the forum aims to discuss modern innovations in animal production and practical solutions to the global food security challenges.
AgriteQ 2025 kicked off Tuesday at Katara, featuring many local and international companies that showcase their latest agriculture technologies.
