Al eraiq reserve: Al Adeed team claimed the title of the 15th edition of the Al Galayel Traditional Hunting Championship 2026, held at Al Eraiq Reserve, supported by the Social and Sports Activities Support Fund (Daam) and under the umbrella of Katara, the Cultural Village Foundation.
According to Qatar News Agency, the winners of the top three positions were awarded by Director General of Katara Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Executive Director of Daam Abdulrahman bin Abdul Latif Al Manaai, and Chairman of the Organizing Committee Khalid bin Mohammed Mubarak Al Ali Al Maadheed.
Al Adeed team received the championship flag in a highly enthusiastic atmosphere. The ceremony also honored winners in various categories, with Hamad Ali Al Burghash Al Nuaimi receiving the oldest participant award of QAR 25,000, and Ali Hassan Ameir Al Nuaimi winning the youngest participant award of QAR 15,000.
Al Sulaiti noted that the championship reflects the depth of Qatar's authentic heritage and the community's strong connection to traditional hunting and desert culture. He highlighted that the high level of competition and discipline among teams demonstrates participants' awareness of preserving this heritage based on respect, teamwork, and adherence to rules.
Al Maadheed emphasized that Al Adeed's victory resulted from consistent performance, clear strategy, and competitive spirit throughout the championship. He praised all teams for their efforts and stressed that the current edition marked a stage of significant development, with results fluctuating until the final moments.
Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee Mohammed bin Nahar Al Nuaimi added that the championship showcased institutional coordination, strong competition, and audience engagement, reinforcing Al Galayel's position as a leading heritage event in the region.
Captain of Al Adeed team Hadi Mohammed Al Hajri said the victory was the result of collective effort, strategic planning, and focused execution. He highlighted the team's discipline, ability to adapt during competitions, and learning from previous experiences as key factors in winning the flag. Al Hajri noted that carrying the championship flag is both an achievement and a responsibility, aiming to maintain this level of performance in future editions and pass on experience to new generations.
