Al Ahli Eye First Win in AFC Champions League 2 Clash Against Turkmenistan’s Arkadag

Doha: Al Ahli SC manager has expressed confidence in his side's ability to claim their first win in the AFC Champions League 2, as they prepare to face Turkmenistan's Arkadag on Wednesday at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha.

According to Qatar News Agency, Igor Biscan, speaking at a pre-match press conference, said his team is eager to earn three points and improve their standing in Group B. He noted that the squad is well-prepared and determined to compete for a place in the knockout stages.

The Croatian highlighted Al Ahli's solid performance in their last outing - a goalless away draw against Uzbekistan's Andijon - and said the team was unlucky not to secure the win. "We need to enter this match with full concentration," he said. "It won't be easy - Arkadag will also be looking for a result after their defeat to Bahrain's Al-Khalidiya."

Biscan added that the match presents an important opportunity for Al Ahli to make a strong statement in their debut campaign in the newly introduced second-tier Asian competition.

Defender Amin Tihi also spoke at the press conference, expressing his confidence ahead of the match. "We've delivered strong performances in both of our previous games. Tomorrow is our chance to secure that first win," he said.

"The atmosphere within the team is very positive, and we're hoping our fans come out in force to support us," Tihi added.

Al Ahli are seeking their first victory in the group after drawing both of their opening matches - a 0-0 home draw against Al Khalidiya and another goalless stalemate away to Andijan.

Heading into Matchday 3, Al Khalidiya sit atop Group B with four points, followed by Al Ahli and Andijon with two points each, while Arkadag trail with just one point.

The group stage of AFC Champions League 2 is set to conclude on December 24, with the Round of 16 scheduled between February 10-19. The quarter-finals and semi-finals will be held in March and April respectively, while the final is set for May 16, 2026.
