Doha: Al Duhail secured a decisive victory over Al Shamal with a 6-2 win during Week 9 of the 2024-2025 Ooredoo Stars League season at the Al Khor Stadium. Almoez Ali played a pivotal role, scoring twice for Al Duhail. According to Qatar News Agency, Almoez Ali's contributions included a penalty in the 45+5 minute and another goal in the 77th minute. Additional goals for Al Duhail were scored by Lucas Verissimo in the 11th minute, Michael Olunga in the 23rd minute, and Luis Alberto in the 51st minute. Al Duhail also benefited from an own goal by Al Shamal's Mohammed Musa in the 28th minute, securing their position at the top of the league standings with 22 points. Al Shamal's goals were recorded by Younes Belhanda in the 37th minute and Baghdad Bounedjah in the 73rd minute, leaving their total points at 10. Al Duhail showcased their determination to maintain their lead in the league, dominating the match from the outset with multiple opportunities created within the first ten minutes through players like I smaeel Mohammad and Alberto. Verissimo opened the scoring for Al Duhail with a header from an overhead cross by Alberto. Olunga then made it 2-0 with a precise shot past goalkeeper Babacar Seck. Al Duhail extended their lead further when Musa inadvertently scored an own goal. Although Belhanda reduced the deficit for Al Shamal, Almoez Ali's penalty just before the halftime whistle restored Al Duhail's advantage. The second half saw a continuation of Al Duhail's dominance. Alberto's long-range goal increased their lead, and despite Bounedjah's efforts to bring Al Shamal back into the match, Almoez Ali's second goal, assisted by Olunga, sealed Al Duhail's comprehensive victory in the high-scoring encounter.
