Al Gharafa Crowned Champions of 8th Edition of Futsal Cup

Al gharafa: Al Gharafa team won the eighth edition of the Futsal Cup for the 2025-2026 season, after defeating Al Wakrah 3-2 in the final match held Monday at Al Gharafa Hall. Al Gharafa, who won the title for the first time in their history, finished the first half with a 1-0 lead before Al Wakrah came back in the second half to take the lead. However, Al Gharafa regained their composure in the final minute and managed to equalize before scoring the winning goal with approximately 30 seconds remaining.

According to Qatar News Agency, CEO of the Qatar Stars League Foundation Hani Taleb Ballan and Director of Futsal and Beach Soccer at the Qatar Football Association Ibrahim Shaheen Al Sulaiti, presented the Al Gharafa team with the championship cup, gold medals, and the first-place prize of QR 100,000. Hani Taleb Ballan expressed his delight at the return of futsal activities, noting that the Cup tournament precedes the start of the league, scheduled to begin next month.

Balan congratulated Al Gharafa on winning the title and Al Wakrah on their strong performance and runner-up finish, while also praising all participating teams. Al Gharafa had defeated Al Rayyan in the semi-finals on penalties (4-3) after the match ended 4-4 after extra time, while Al Wakrah had defeated Al Ahli (3-1).

Al Gharafa topped Group A with 9 points, followed by Al Wakrah in second place with 6 points, Al Shamal in third with 3 points, and Al Arabi in fourth with no points. Al Gharafa had previously faced Al Wakrah in the group stage, with Al Gharafa winning 3-1, setting up a rematch in the final.

It is worth noting that Al Rayyan won the seventh edition of the tournament in the 2015-2016 season and had previously won the fourth edition in the 2012-2013 season. Al Sadd holds the record for the most titles with four, won in the 2008-2009, 2009-2010, 2013-2014, and 2014-2015 seasons, while Al Khor won the third edition in the 2010-2011 season.
