Al Noor Center for Blind Celebrates World Braille Day with Tech-Focused Events

Doha: Al Noor Center for the Blind, a key entity under the Qatar Foundation for Social Work and affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development and Family, is set to commemorate World Braille Day on January 4, 2025. This year’s celebration marks the bicentennial of the Braille system’s invention, a milestone that revolutionized literacy and accessibility for the visually impaired globally.

According to Qatar News Agency, the center will host a series of comprehensive awareness events designed to underscore Braille’s pivotal role in empowering individuals with visual disabilities. Mishaal Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Executive Director of Al Noor Center, highlighted the special significance of this year’s celebration, coinciding with the 200th anniversary of Braille’s invention. He noted that this system has fundamentally transformed the lives of the blind by enabling them to read and write independently.

Al Nuaimi reiterated the center’s ongoing commitment to offering advanced educational solutions rooted in Braille.
