Doha:Al Qadsiah of Saudi Arabia secured a decisive 5-0 victory against Qatar’s Al Gharafa in their AFC Champions League Elite 2026/27 encounter on Monday.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al Qadsiah’s Quinones was the standout performer, scoring twice and propelling his team towards their second win in the competition. This win leaves Al Gharafa with a troubling record of four consecutive defeats.
The match saw Al Qadsiah make tactical adjustments with three changes to their starting lineup, while Al Gharafa opted to leave key players, including Florinel Coman, Yacine Brahimi, and Feras Sassi, on the bench initially. Al Qadsiah’s aggressive start was evident as Tijjani Reijnders narrowly missed an early goal.
The breakthrough came in the 17th minute when Julian Quinones set up Abu Al Shamat, who scored with a volley over the goalkeeper. Despite several near misses, Quinones extended the lead with a header, capitalizing on a cross from Christopher Bonsu Baah.
Al Gharafa attempted a comeback with strategic substitutions at halftime, including the introduction of Brahimi, Sassi, and Saif Eldeen Fadllalla. However, their efforts were not enough to shift the momentum. Al Qahtani sealed the win for Al Qadsiah in the 81st minute with a well-executed counter-attack.
