Al Raya Affirms Qatar’s Commitment to Supporting Syria Recovery

Doha: Al Raya newspaper highlighted the recovery path that Syria is pursuing after years of political isolation and economic pressure, amid rapid regional and international transformations. It underscored Qatar's role in supporting this process through its positions and diplomatic and humanitarian efforts aimed at enhancing stability in the country.

According to Qatar News Agency, the newspaper noted that Syria is now moving forward with confident steps toward recovery, regaining its natural position as an active and influential state on the regional and international map, following a period described as burdensome and marked by political isolation and economic pressures that weakened its ability to recover.

The editorial considered this trajectory to represent a clear break with a previous phase that had turned Syria into a pariah and besieged state, as a result of the policies of the former regime and the suffering that followed, without any real prospects for a solution or stability.

In this context, the newspaper highlighted the State of Qatar's welcome of the United States' repeal of the Caesar Act, viewing this stance as a reflection of a firm, principled approach based on rejecting comprehensive sanctions that harm populations and undermine opportunities for economic and humanitarian recovery.

It affirmed that the State of Qatar viewed the law as an additional burden on Syrians, one that contributed to complicating the humanitarian situation rather than serving as an effective tool for achieving stability or advancing sustainable solutions.

The newspaper noted that as Syria enters a new phase following the victory of the revolution, the State of Qatar remains committed to supporting the path of recovery and reconstruction, based on the conviction that Syria's stability and return as an effective state serve regional security and enhance prospects for development and peace.

It added that welcoming the decision reflects a Qatari vision centered on openness, support, and development as tools to assist countries emerging from crises, rather than isolation or siege.

Al Raya also pointed out that the State of Qatar has emerged as one of the most prominent actors in accelerating the path toward international recognition of the new Syria, through active and responsible diplomatic engagement that helped convey the image of ongoing transformations to the international community and promoted an approach focused on supporting stability rather than severance.

Doha has also contributed, through its political contacts and presence in regional and international forums, to creating a more understanding international climate toward the new phase and to emphasizing the need to deal with Syria as a sovereign state capable of restoring its role and standing.

The newspaper stressed that the Qatari position is not a recent development, but rather an extension of a supportive role in which Doha has stood alongside the Syrian people since the outbreak of the revolution, driven by belief in people's right to freedom and dignity, and rejection of the use of force and collective punishment as a means of managing crises.

Al Raya concluded its editorial by noting that Qatari efforts have focused on linking international recognition with the path of recovery and reconstruction, opening channels for political, economic, and humanitarian cooperation in a way that ensures support for Syrian state institutions and enables them to perform their role, with a direct and fundamental impact on the daily lives of Syrian citizens.
