Doha: Qatari daily Al-Raya said in its Saturday editorial that Qatar has established itself as a trusted international mediator, earning broad global recognition for advancing regional and international peace, security, and stability through dialogue and diplomacy.
According to Qatar News Agency, the newspaper's editorial titled "Qatar's Unwavering Support for Peace Efforts," highlighted US President Donald Trump's praise for Qatar's role in promoting peace and stability. This acknowledgment reflects the international community's confidence in Qatari diplomacy, which has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to bridge differences and facilitate dialogue on some of the world's most complex conflicts.
The editorial emphasized Qatar's long-standing commitment to mediation and dialogue as a cornerstone of its foreign policy. Qatar has consistently worked towards defusing tensions and promoting regional and international peace and security. The newspaper also underlined Qatar's efforts in supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate cause. It detailed Qatar's sustained efforts to end Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, alleviate the humanitarian crisis, and ensure the full implementation of the Gaza peace agreement. These efforts, it said, reflect Qatar's humanitarian and moral responsibility, as well as its belief that lasting peace begins with protecting civilians, easing the suffering of innocent people, and ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.
Al-Raya further stated that Qatar will continue to play a leading role in international efforts to advance global peace, security, and stability. The newspaper asserted that reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip is a crucial step toward ending the war. However, it stressed that success depends on all parties, particularly Israel, fully implementing the agreement in good faith and without delay. This includes a permanent ceasefire, a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the release of prisoners and detainees in accordance with the agreement, the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid, and the launch of reconstruction efforts to end the suffering of the people of Gaza.
The editorial concluded by urging that the agreement should not be seen as a temporary measure, but as the foundation for a comprehensive political process addressing the root causes of the conflict and paving the way for a just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian issue. It emphasized that such a settlement should be based on international legitimacy and the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, while ensuring peace, security, and stability for all peoples of the region. The newspaper also called on the international community to end the suffering endured by the Palestinian people for more than eight decades.
