Al Raya Warns of Continued Israeli Escalation in Gaza

Al raya: Al Raya newspaper warned of the danger of the criminal and unjustified Israeli escalation in the Gaza Strip, despite the signing of a ceasefire agreement between the Israeli occupation and the Hamas movement, considering that it aims to normalize aggression and make it part of the daily life of the Palestinian people in the Strip.

According to Qatar News Agency, the newspaper's editorial noted that the Gaza Strip witnessed a new humanitarian tragedy yesterday, with the martyrdom of nearly 20 Palestinian civilians as a result of a series of strikes it described as criminal and brutal, which targeted displaced people inside their tents without prior warning.

It pointed out that these strikes come within the context of a continuing policy targeting unarmed civilians, amid extremely harsh humanitarian conditions endured by the population of the Strip.

The newspaper added that the Israeli occupation has not only kept the Rafah crossing closed and prevented the adequate flow of humanitarian aid, but has also continued to target civilians, in an effort to force Gaza's residents to leave their land and be forcibly displaced, leading to the continued occupation of the Strip and the revival of what the editorial described as renewed settlement illusions.

Al Raya affirmed that these facts demonstrate the occupation's lack of commitment to any pledge or covenant, and its evasion of all undertakings announced under the Gaza ceasefire agreement, as military operations and attacks against civilians continue.

The editorial said that the occupation has not fully opened the Rafah crossing, citing the failure to hand over the body of the last hostage due to an alleged lack of adequate equipment, while also refusing to allow specialized international teams to enter to assist in recovering the body.

Al Raya highlighted that the ceasefire agreement explicitly calls for opening the Rafah crossing in both directions, ensuring the sustained and smooth entry of humanitarian aid, in addition to working to urgently begin the reconstruction process and complete the formation of a community support committee composed of agreed-upon independent figures to begin managing the affairs of the Strip.

Al Raya concluded its editorial by pointing out that the situation experienced by the devastated Strip represents an extremely harsh humanitarian tragedy, amid the continued suffering of the Palestinian people and the absence of any tangible improvement in humanitarian conditions despite the announcement of the ceasefire agreement, underscoring the scale of the catastrophe endured by Gaza's residents since October 2023.
