Doha: Al Shamal SC has officially signed Spanish midfielder Alex Collado from Real Betis, marking an important addition to the club's first football team. The announcement was made by Al Shamal SC on Tuesday, confirming that Collado will join the team for the upcoming 2025-2026 season.

According to Qatar News Agency, Collado, aged 26, has a noteworthy career as a midfielder in the Spanish league. He developed his skills at Barcelona's renowned La Masia Academy before transferring to Real Betis. Last season, Collado played for Saudi club Al Akhdoud on a loan deal from Real Betis.

In addition to signing Collado, Al Shamal SC recently secured Egyptian player Akram Tawfik on a three-year contract. The club concluded the 2024-2025 sports season in sixth place in the Qatari league, indicating their ambition to strengthen their squad for future competitions.
