Doha: Al Wakrah secured a 3-0 victory over Al Shamal on Saturday in a match of the Qatar Men's Volleyball League First Division, held at the Qatar Volleyball Association Hall with the participation of 10 clubs.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al Wakrah won the match in straight sets: 25-17, 25-15, 25-21. With this win, Al Wakrah increased its points total to 19, reclaiming the top spot after recording eight victories in seven matches. They now lead second-placed Al Shorta by four points, with Al Shorta having six wins and 15 points.
Al Shamal, meanwhile, suffered its fifth defeat of the season and remains in eighth place with four points from six matches. The competition resumes next Tuesday with two fixtures. Al Arabi, currently fifth with nine points from five matches, will face second-placed Al Shorta, while Al Sadd, in ninth place and still without points, will take on Qatar SC, which sits sixth with nine points from five matches.
Defending champions Al Rayyan are currently fourth in the standings with 11 points from five matches. However, they were eliminated yesterday from both the men's and women's club world volleyball championships in Brazil, despite defeating Volei Renata in their final group-stage match.
