Doha: World number one Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the quarter-finals of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open with a straight-sets victory over France's Valentin Royer. The 22-year-old Spaniard won 6-2, 7-5 on Wednesday at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. According to Qatar News Agency, Alcaraz, who began the tournament by beating Arthur Rinderknech 6-4, 7-6, is aiming for his first Qatar Open title and has now recorded 151 career wins on hard courts. The reigning Australian Open champion, who holds seven Grand Slam titles, will face Russia's Karen Khachanov in the quarter-finals. Other last-eight match-ups include Jannik Sinner vs Jakub Mensik, Andrey Rublev vs Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Jiri Lehecka vs Arthur Fils.
