Damascus, Ministry of Culture said that Aleppo Citadel has reopened its doors to visitors as of today after the completion of the first and second phase of the restoration and rehabilitation of the southern forward tower of the Citadel (the entrance to the citadel), which was greatly affected by the earthquake hit the country last February. The ministry noted in a statement that closing the citadel came due to the seriousness of the cracks and fissures that appeared in the structure of the entrance after the earthquake, adding that entering of the citadel has become safe after the restoration work as there are large numbers visitors and tourists willing to visit the citadel. The ministry noted that maintenance and rehabilitation work for the rest of the inner parts of the citadel will begin soon. The citadel of Aleppo is one of the most important archaeological monument in the city and one of the most amazing places of Islamic architecture. Source: Syrian Arab News Agency
