Algiers: HE President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune strongly condemned the Israeli aggression against Qatar, stating that it represents an assault on the entire Arab and Islamic nation and its fundamental values and principles. He emphasized that the security of these nations is indivisible.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Ahmed Attaf, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, delivered Algeria's address at the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit on behalf of President Tebboune. During his address, he reiterated Algeria's unwavering support for Qatar, including its leadership, government, and people. He affirmed Algeria's commitment to supporting any measures Qatar deems necessary to safeguard its sovereignty, preserve its territorial integrity, and protect its citizens.
Minister Attaf also highlighted the gravity of the current situation in the Middle East, stating that the Israeli occupation has violated international laws and conventions, posing the greatest threat to regional and international peace and security through its aggressive policies, criminal practices, and repeated assaults on several countries in the region.
He revealed that Algeria had taken the initiative to request a UN Security Council meeting two days ago to discuss the Israeli aggression against Qatar. The session reportedly witnessed broad solidarity and strong support for Qatar from all member states.
In his concluding remarks, President Tebboune stressed that the international community is increasingly convinced of the need for deterrence and accountability in confronting the Israeli occupation. He called for unified Arab and Islamic resolutions to translate this growing international awareness into concrete measures to halt Israeli aggression, uphold the rights of the peoples and states of the region, and accelerate efforts to address the root causes of the conflict.
